South Crest is a well-established suburb in the Alberton municipal district. This is still very much a developing suburb which is obvious when one sees all the new sectional title developments which consist of townhouses and apartments that are underway. The suburb has access to a large number of reputable schools such as Crestview Primary School, Parklands High School, Hoerskool Alberton and High School Alberton.

There are more than enough malls that cater for retail needs and entertainment such as Mall at Newmarket, Mall of the South, The Glen Shopping Centre and Comaro Crossing.
