West Village in Krugersdorp is an established residential suburb. Krugersdorp was established when gold was found which led to towns being established on the greater Gauteng region which was then known as The PWV - Pretoria, Witwatersrand and Vereeniging. As mining expanded into other minerals being discovered, the population growth in the region was staggering and towns and suburbs were established.

The market in the suburb of West Village consists of freehold home, townhouse complexes and apartment complexes. There are large tracts of vacant land, some of which are currently being developed, and some waiting for property developers to purchase and develop.

The super can be categorized as a second-tier suburb with a large portion made up of high-density accommodation in the sectional-title sector. This would imply that the average value of property is around R 5,5 k which is the norm in the sectional-title sector, and freehold homes are slightly higher, which is expected.

The architectural styles of homes, apartments and townhouses vary for classic traditional, period style designs and more modern designs. Situated on the West Rand would imply that a fair portion of residents works in the mining and allied industries like light, medium and heavy engineering and manufacturing.

Residents employed in other sectors like the commercial sector will travel to Krugersdorp which is within easy access along major highways like the R28, Main Reef Road and the R21.

There are schools, malls and entertainment venues that residents enjoy. The list of schools are West Rand Primary Mine School, Paardekraal Primary School and Krugersdorp Town School.

Malls close to the suburb are Cowboy Town Shopping Mall, Key West Shopping Centre, President Square and for explorers and nature lovers there are places like The Cradle Of Mankind, Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens and The Sterkfontein Caves.
