Wapadrand is a Pretoria East suburb which was established in the late 1980’s after there was a growing demand for residential property in the fast expanding east. At that stage Pretoria east extended to Garsfontein and Faerie Glen only with everything further to the east being small holdings up to Lynnwood Road.

Once a main access road had been constructed on either side of Solomon Mahlangu Drive, small holdings slowly became the source of potential residential property and once the rezoning had taken place the plans for a new suburb got underway.

The suburb first developed west of Solomon Mahlangu, and as that land was completely developed the extensions of Wapadrand moved to the east of Solomon Mahlangu Drive.

The demand for property in this new suburb was very high and this was a strong driving factor even in the current economic climate where interest rates were at one point in the double digit figures with properties attaining high sales values.

The architecture was current and up to date which further drove demand for homes and established a benchmark for the suburb.

Time has established the suburb and is today still in demand due to its location and property values. Wapadrand today is a secure village with 24 hour access control which is seen as a value added service and also a service which sets a slightly higher price tag on the properties.
