Sunningdale is a prestigious seaside suburb located in Durban’s North Coast. Being a suburb of Umhlanga goes a long way in defining Sunningdale as prestigious but it is also an individual suburb with its own appeal and demography.

Not as exclusive as say Umhlanga does help to draw buyers to Sunningdale but still maintaining that all important status. With the backdrop of the Indian Ocean, white sunny beaches the tone is set for this high demand suburb homes.

An architectural flavour fitting in with its coastal theme means there is an undertone of Mediterranean architecture with a post-modern and contemporary spin on the theme. There are of course more conventional homes which fall into the lower end of the prestigious price range which also helps to draw a wider income group.

The laid back atmosphere is almost palpable and if it were absent the suburb would lose a lot of its appeal which is further increased by the lush sub-tropical vegetation which also compliments the Mediterranean theme.

As a residential suburb of Umhlanga the suburb does have that important familial appeal with more tranquil streets than those of the centre of Umhlanga.

A mixed property usage which consists of freestanding homes, apartments and townhouses brings great attention from buyers and for the second holiday home buyers apartments and townhouses offer the convenience and safety of lock-up and go thus almost eliminating the need to have the property listed with an agent.

Permanent residents have other benefits to enjoy from the suburb such as its prime location which is in relation to the commercial sector of which most has moved to the new developments in Umhlanga thus doing away with congested freeways into the Durban CBD. Then there is also access to reputable schools nearby such as Victory Christian Academy, Crawford Schools La Lucia and La Lucia Primary School.
