The laid back and relaxed lifestyle of Cape Town is not
solely for those residing on the beachfront. The greater Cape Town is a culture
of unhurried approaches to most things.
That is also where things change for the general property
market. Suburbs located in the north of Cape Town are middle to exclusive
suburbs with a wide range of reasons for the appeal these suburbs hold in terms
of the property market.
Bellville and its many suburbs appeal to the middle to
higher income groups for the status of the suburbs, the architecture and
convenience in categories like proximity to schools and the office.
Clusters of exclusive suburbs have a cross pollination
effect on one another like Stellenberg, Stellenridge or Plattekloof.
Stellenridge falls within the exclusive range of properties
thus putting the suburb in a high demand category. The relatively young age of
the suburb is reflected in the architectural designs which tend to be more
contemporary modern with some of the more conventional designs dating back to
the founding period of the suburb.
Homes in the suburb are mostly free standing interspersed
with a few townhouse complexes and some new developments of apartments and
retirement homes.
Stellenridge is then by the definition of property usage
very much family oriented. This fact is also affirmed by the large number of
reputable schools servicing the suburb such as Stellenberg High School, Gene
Louw Primary School, Fairmont High School and Eversdal Primary School.
The central or prime location of Stellenridge comes to the
fore when traveling to industrial or commercial hubs of which commercial hubs
are Stikland Industrial, Brackenfell Industrial and Bellville South Industrial.
When many commercial companies moved from the Cape Town CBD
the trend was to move to suburbs such as Tyger Valley, Durbanville and other
nearby suburbs. This has reduced travel time and expenses drastically and the
convenience of avoiding congested freeways is of a major benefit.
Stellenridge will not be a full-fledged suburb with retail
and entertainment, here is a list of some of the nearby malls; Tyger Valley
Centre, Glengarry Shopping Centre and Willowbridge Shopping Centre.
