The suburb of Parow is bordered by Plattekloof, Bellville

and Edgemead which are generally seen as upmarket to prestigious suburbs.

Parow could be classified as a middle-class suburb with a

mixed property usage which consists of freestanding homes, apartments and

commercial property.

The apartments seem to make up the bulk of the property

usage which means the suburb will cater for young families, first-time buyers

and pensioners. Parow is set in a prime location offering easy access to

important amenities like malls, schools, commercial and industrial hubs.

Being an old established suburb means the apartments are

generally very spacious, as was standard practice back in the day. The tranquillity

of suburb will of course favour the pensioners.

The freestanding homes in the suburb are also middle-class

homes with some prestigious homes adding to the buoyant property values.

With two major roads dissecting the suburb, the N1 and

Voortrekker Road means access to destinations is direct.

Many of the apartments of Parow Central also cater for the

student residential market as UCT and Cape Peninsula University of Technology

are within the borders of the greater Parow.  This means these apartments will always be in

demand for this constant market segment. Some of the apartment buildings have

invested large amounts of capital and given the exterior of the buildings an

upgrade which has added value and also increased demand for the apartments.

Industrial hubs which make up a fair amount of household

income are Epping, Sacks Circle Industrial and Bellville South Industrial.

Schools catering for education in and around Parow Central

are Hoerskool Tygerberg, Parow High School, Florida High School and Emmanuel

Cristian Academy.

Residents of Parow Central are treated to all the malls and

entertainment venues that have been developed in recent years such as Century

City, Tygervalley Shopping Centre and Canal Walk Shopping Centre.

Commercial hubs situated in the Cape Town CBD, Bellville and

Durbanville are minutes away along the two major roads, the N1 and Voortrekker

Road.
