Birchleigh is a suburb located on the East Rand within the Ekurhuleni municipality.

The suburb is part of the expansion that took place as the industrial hubs of Isando, Johannesburg, Germiston and Jet Park grew, thus the need for more residential property arose and the suburb came into being.
