Comments & Notes

The property: The property is a corner property in the heart of the village of Himeville just off the main road between Underberg and Sani Pass. The property is currently run as a fully furnished guest house - accommodating up to 12 people at a time. There are 4 different units sleeping from 2 to 4 people each.It could be suitable for a B&B as well as Backpackers accommodation. It could also be used as a family home or a rental property. The garden: The crown jewel of the garden is the largest holly tree in the area. Under the tree patio furniture provides leisure opportunity, a sunny breakfast or a sundowners. Not much survives the cold winters, but in spring and summer the garden comes to life with the colour and scent that is unique to this area. Perhaps the most beautiful season is autumn when the trees turn bright orange, yellow and red. This spectacle is a promise every year that the winter will be cold and special. The garden has a large fish pond (recently fixed) but not yet populated with Koi again. A "lovers lane" passage is a lovely remnant of the time when the Main Road entrance was still in use. An outside "bonfire" area with plenty of space to really "go big" provides the opportunity to reminisce, relax and reflect. There is also an outside braai area for that essential South African tradition. The main house: The main house features a single en suite bedroom, currently sleeping two adults and two children. The en suite bathroom has a bath with handheld shower head. The spacious lounge sports a very large fireplace for those chilly winter evenings. (Winter in this part of the country could also mean a chilly day in December - The Drakensberg has received snowfall in every month of the year). An open plan dining room and kitchen area completes the quaint corrugated iron roof cottage. The kitchen  has plenty of cupboard space and is currently able to provide full self-catering to 12 people.Entrance rondawel: By the entrance to the main house a corrugated iron roofed rondawel currently accommodates two people in comfort. The unit shares an outside bathroom with 2 other units.Thatch rondawel: An old thatch rondawel currently provides accommodation to 4 people - two single beds and a double sleeper couch. This unit also shares an outside bathroom with 2 other units. The Star unit: Many people's favourite is the little corrugated iron cottage with a double bed and an old world charm. It has a small stoep which gives it a distinctive look.Garage, Laundry: A single garage is really better suited for storage as there is ample parking in a gravel covered area in the front garden. Another storage room and a laundry room completes the building. The laundry is geared currently contains a large washing machine for the use of guests, residents or staff.
